Nobleza Gaucha Yerba Mate is unique. Although some will say it’s a classic brand, I think it’s quite different from the rest and worth trying for any mate drinker out there.
After drinking it myself, I can’t think of any brand that tastes like it.
And if you’re wondering how it tastes, then this Nobleza Gaucha Yerba Mate Review will fill you in on all the details.
This yerba mate is sure to knock you off your feet with its rich flavor and effect.
Nose
To the nose, Nobleza Gaucha is sweet and candy-like with absolutely no smoky odor. It’s bright and sharp. However, when brewing in the gourd, this yerba releases a woody floral aroma. Though, not that strong.
Taste
On my first few gourds of Nobleza Gaucha, it always tasted like a beef and tomato stew to me. But as I kept drinking it (around my 5th gourd), it started taking a new direction.
When prepared with a water temperature around 160ºF, Nobleza Gaucha featured a classic grass and earthy note with a hearty bread and malt flavor that quickly went away, which was then followed up with a strong sour lemon/citrus note (similar to that of Taragui).
Finish
Upon swallowing, Nobleza Gaucha leaves a delectable finish for materos to ponder on. It’s first introduced by an acidic taste (which personally doesn’t sit too well on my tongue). But then a salty nuttiness appears out of the blue. Tasty and savory. The finish stays on the palate for a good two minutes or so.
Body/Texture
Nobleza Gaucha is a medium-to-full body mate. This yerba is rich and brothy from the start to the middle. You can feel its presence on each sip. But as you get near the end, it gradually dies down and becomes buttery smooth.
Cycle
Nobleza Gaucha features a short-to-medium cycle. In the gourd pictured in this review, I can drink up to 1/2 to 3/4 of a liter. Thankfully, the strength of the mate lasts almost the entire time. Its flavor doesn’t wash out until the end.
Cut
This yerba contains an Argentinian cut with broad and finely chopped leaves, short and long palos, and a good amount of dust. Light green, dark green, and a bit brownish in color. Fluffy and loose, when preparing the mountain of yerba, the leaves can easily slide off.
Effect
After drinking gourds of Nobleza Gaucha, I can confidently say it packs a punch.
If you’re looking for an energy boost, this will have you covered.
The past week I’ve been drinking coffee on some days, and Nobleza Gaucha on others. And compared to coffee, this yerba produces a much more noticeable effect for me.
I typically tend to feel calmer, more energized, and super focused.
Plus, even compared to some of the best yerba mate brands, Nobleza Gaucha still stands out in effect. It could be the levels of caffeine or some other compound, but that doesn’t matter. I just know if I need to kick things into high gear, I always prepare a gourd of this powerful yerba.
Nobleza Gaucha Yerba Mate Review
Nobleza Gaucha is a classic brand. It’s actually one of the popular brands in Argentina.
Although Nobleza Gaucha isn’t a brand I would buy again and again, it’s one I think all mate drinkers should try. Especially after reading this review and thinking it will be something you’d like.
With its unique sour note and rich flavor, it’s a good mate for transitioning into stronger ones.

Interesting. Nobleza gaucha tastes floral or like fruit to me at lower water temperatures, and if the water is too hot-I never let it boil-it tastes like non-menthol cigarettes, or like an ashtray full of extinguished cigarettes and ashes smells.
Hey John,
Interesting! It’s been a while since I had Nobleza Gaucha so I don’t remember what it was like at lower temps. Might have to revisit it.
And are you fairly new to yerba mate? Most who report yerba tasting like cigarettes are usually new. I experienced the same when I first started, but now I don’t taste anything like that at all.
Darren
Hi Darren I just read your reply now. No I am not new to drinking yerba mate I have been drinking it since about 2003, or maybe 2004?
