If you’re a fan of Pipore, their suave variation is another mate you need to try.
I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest fan of the original Pipore. I always hear a lot of people rave about it, but I never saw the appeal. However, if they were talking about Pipore Suave instead, I’d back them up in a heartbeat.
This yerba has similarities to its brother but also has unique qualities of its own.
If you’re in the market looking for a reliable mate you can enjoy all the time without it ever getting boring, Pipore Suave is the one.
Keep reading to find out why…
Nose
The nose of Pipore Suave is amazing. I’ve never had a bag of yerba before that made me want to drink it ASAP like this one. As soon as I opened the package, notes of grass, woods, cereal, and sweet jam fill the room. It’s similar to other brands I’ve smelled, but there’s something about this yerba, in particular, that smells so, so good.
Taste
Pipore Suave’s flavor profile is slightly similar to the original, except with a few notes and (as the name suggests) its strength is toned down – just like it should be.
This yerba makes the ordinary earthiness of yerba mate taste extraordinary. Upon the first one to two refills, you get a strong grassy flavor similar to chimarrão. Quickly afterward, however, it starts changing. Notes of whole wheat bread and oats combine with subtle hints of salted peanuts and peanut butter to produce a delicious and addicting brew. As you keep sipping, it also gradually gets sweeter with an added touch of sourness. There’s nothing harsh or smokey with this mate, and the strength and bitterness are mild enough even for beginners to enjoy. Once you get halfway, it’s like drinking tea bags. Very tasty.
I found this brand to do best in water temperatures of around 150-160ºF (66-71ºC). It strikes the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness. Lower temperatures bring out the sweetness more but make it too mild for me to enjoy, while higher temperatures remove its more subtle notes.
Finish
The finish of this mate is light and short. In the beginning, you get a mild astringency that quickly goes away. Then after a few refills, the nuttiness and bready note stick around and starts to shine. The finish only lasts for about 20 seconds, forcing you to go back for another delicious sip.
Body/Texture
Piporé Suave is a light-to-medium-bodied mate. The first few refills have a nice creamy texture but it quickly becomes light and watery. What I like most though is it’s not super astringent. You don’t get this dry mouth feeling after every sip like you would with many other brands. Instead, this leaves your palate feeling refreshed and hydrated.
Cut
Piporé Suave has a beautiful Argentine cut. The leaves come in all shapes and sizes with this nice olive green/tan brown shade to them. And because this yerba is suave, you’ll find an abundance of stems. The stems are mostly white, short, and wide. Surprisingly, the dust content in this yerba is above average. Pouring the leaves into my gourd, clouds of dust float into the air. And when preparing the mate, I’m left with a heavy imprint of dust on my palm.
Cycle
Piporé Suave has a medium cycle with a strength that holds up for most of its lifespan, allowing you to get a good amount of flavor throughout the entire mate. I can get about 3/4 of a liter from my gourd. And it’s not until maybe the last three refills that I start to notice it get weaker.
Effect
For a suave mate, you’d think its effects are taken down a notch, but it isn’t.
Pipore Suave still provides a nice steady increase in focus that you can feel the second you take your first sip. Your senses start to heighten as well. Colors look brighter, sounds sound crisper. When drinking this mate, I’ve also almost never experienced negative side effects like an upset stomach, jitters, or crash. Pipore Suave keeps you at the right amount of stimulation without ever going overboard.
This yerba is great as a morning-afternoon mate. Whether it’s for doing work in the morning or unwinding, Pipore Suave has your back.
Pipore Suave Review
Compared to the other Pipore versions I’ve tried (original and sin palo), I have to say, this one is my favorite.
Pipore Suave isn’t as complex or as strong as its relatives, but its stable flavor profile has me addicted.
I can’t say anything bad about this mate.
It checks off all the boxes.
No matter your experience level, Pipore Suave is simple yet tasty enough for anyone to enjoy.

Please study Yerba Mate and alcohol consumption. It is highly carcinogenic for people who consume large amounts of alcohol….. which are most of the people who drink.
I drink the suave yerbas before bed as they have more Palo (sticks) than leaves and it makes me relax.
Hi John!
Suave yerbas are definitely more mild in effect and likely have less caffeine. I still avoid drinking before bed though. Any little bit of caffeine keeps me up.
