Soft, smooth, and mild is what Rosamonte Suave is all about. Take away the bold, harsh, and smoky characteristics from the original Rosamonte and this is what you get.
If that sounds good to you, this bag of yerba won’t disappoint.
And if you’re a beginner, then you really don’t want to miss out.
I’ve been drinking this yerba for the past few weeks, experimenting with it at different water temperatures, and once again, Rosamonte has outdone themselves.
In today’s review, we’ll be taking a closer look at Rosamonte Suave and how it looks, smells, tastes, and more.
Let’s begin!
Nose
To the nose, Rosamonte Suave boasts this light earthy aroma that mingles with more sweet delicate notes of cereal and strawberry jam. Hints of freshly baked bread are also present without any trace of smokiness. Bright and pleasant, this mate does a good job delivering a lovely scent.
Taste
Rosamonte Suave is like a cross between its traditional and despalada version. It has the smoothness of Rosamonte Despalada and a flavor profile similar to the original, but with a much milder strength of course.
Notes of wet soil and florals are most prominent in this mate. And hiding beneath it all is this light refreshing taste of wood and mint – almost like chewing on a fresh mint leaf. A subtle honey sweetness and sour note are present at times as well. Living up to its name, I also don’t experience any harshness or smokiness. Its flavor mostly consists of bright notes and stays the same throughout the entire mate.
I found Rosamonte Suave to do best in water temperatures of around 150ºF (66ºC).
Finish
When it comes to this mate’s finish, it barely leaves a footprint. At most, you’ll get a light nutty flavor. But other than that, you won’t taste anything, and I kind of love it. It leaves my palate cleansed, refreshed, and ready for the next sip, which allows me to experience its flavor all over again without being tainted.
Body/Texture
Rosamonte Suave is a light-bodied mate. From start to finish, it’s as light as a feather and gently flows in and out. Astringency can be felt around the halfway point but quickly disappears. For those of you looking for a bit of body and texture, this probably isn’t it. But if you’re looking for something soft and smooth, this mate will be right up your alley.
Cut
Rosamonte Suave has an Argentine cut. And because it’s Suave, you can expect a higher amount of palos. This is how they achieve a milder strength and flavor. Leaves are broadly-cut, stems are mostly large, and dust content is below average. There are also quite a few seeds within the mix. If you look closely at the picture, you can see them.
When it comes time to prepare, you shouldn’t have any problems. The large particles make filtration simple, but the mountain of mate difficult to maintain. Any bombilla will work well with this mate.
Cycle
Surprisingly, with such a mild-flavored mate, Rosamonte Suave has a short-to-medium cycle. Its strength, though light, holds up for a majority of my thermos. I can usually get about 1/2-3/4 of a liter before it starts to taste like nothing.
Effect
When I see a Suave mate, I naturally assume every aspect of it – including its effect – is mild, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
The effects I experience with Rosamonte Suave is the same as with any other brand. It’s not weaker nor stronger. You can expect a mellow and gradual increase in focus and concentration, along with a soothing calmness. What I love most about this mate though is I never get an upset stomach. With other yerbas, I experience it a handful of times. But even after finishing an entire bag of Rosamonte Suave, it didn’t happen once (thank god).
This yerba is a good all-day mate. It’s stimulating, but not stimulating enough to keep you up at night. Perfect for studying, reading, and relaxing.
Rosamonte Suave Yerba Mate Review
Rosamonte Suave doesn’t bite. It’s a safe mate.
Whether drinking by yourself or with friends and family, this would be a good yerba to reach for. Tasty yet mild, it’ll be well-received by drinkers of all experience levels. Its long duration also serves well for sharing.
As my first Suave mate, I’m impressed.
It’s a good switch from the usual bold and harsh yerbas out there.

Thanks for great review, my friend. Never had it but I think I will grab a bag from Pampa on my next order thanks to you! I have tried many of Pampa’s offerings recently and left reviews on each one: Trad Aguatandora, Kraus Gaucho, Ivu, Roapipo, LaOrberena, Titrayju, Amanda, Playadido AND the first organic brand in Argentina…. Sol de Acuario.
All are very good but man I love Ivu and Sol de Acuario!
I want to try Kraus Pionero and Playadido Despalada too. Next order for sure.
I wonder why Pampa does not carry Cachemate regular. They have all the other blends but not the strait version.
Lastly- LaRubai Bold Brew. They have had this listed but unavailable for many months. I would love to try as I really like their organic original.

Thanks for this excellent review, I bought this mate and drank it all day long. Incredibly relaxing, smooth and satisfying! Don’t miss this one.
Hey Rand,
Yup, can’t ever go wrong with Rosamonte!

Thanks for the excellent, detailed review. As a noob, it really helped me decide which yerba mate brand to start out with. Thanks so much!
Hey Joe,
Glad you found it useful! Hope your first mate goes well! Let me know.
Cheers,
Darren
I know this has been published for a long time so I don’t know if you still come across the comments but I’ll try. I bought Rosamonte (traditional) as a first-time mate drinker and didn’t like it, too smoky upfront, although I like the smoked aftertaste/finish it leaves behind (but only then do I like it). I wish it weren’t so harsh at the beginning. Almost violent, hard to swallow. I tamed some nastiness by lowering the temperature, but I can’t do anything about the smokiness (or maybe its astringency is the violent note? Who knows). Now I did a 360° and went with Kraus sin humo, I like the idea, but it’s almost too bland…
There are so many other yerbas out there, but I don’t know if I want to give up on Rosamonte, so here’s the question: if I wanted to give Rosamonte another chance, between the Suave and Especial, which one would you recommend? It seems that both are more pleasant to drink than the standard version but I can’t make up my mind about what would taste best for me. For the record I drank some Playadito in Argentina and found it ok.
Hi staff,
I appreciate you speaking to the experience/flavour profile, but I have a specific question, are the leave of SAUVE dried at any point with smoke? Like the original Rosamonte?
