Description
The classic calabash gourd in the famous torpedo style! Each mate is carefully wrapped in leather (brown or black), sown together, and topped with a sleek stainless steel rim. Easily recognized across Uruguay, and famous footballers, torpedoes are a must-have in everyone's collection.
It’s recommended you cure your gourd before use. (The size and shape of each gourd varies from the pictures shown as no two gourds are the same - some are larger, some are smaller. Color may also slightly vary. Small blemishes on the leather and calabash itself are normal.)

Care / Maintenance
Mate Gourds
Before your first use, it's best to cure your mate gourd to remove debris and reduce bitter tannins.
- Fill with hot water (170°F / 77 °C) and steep for 20 minutes.
- Pat dry with a paper towel.
- Rest gourd on its side in a well-ventilated spot (a fan works best).
Bombillas
New bombillas should be cleaned to remove potential manufacturing residue.
- Boil in water with 1 tbsp baking soda for 10–15 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly and let it dry.
Yerba Mate
Keep yerba mate in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. For green yerba, store in the fridge/freezer to preserve freshness and prevent degradation
