Frequently Bought Together
Experience the legendary taste of Baldo - the official yerba mate of Argentina's National Football team. Being the same company to produce Canarias, you can expect Baldo to feature similar characteristics, but with a slightly milder intensity. Aged for 4-6 months, Baldo is another iconic brand in the Uruguayan market and is preferred by world-class athletes for a reason.
- Traditional Uruguayan Cut: Composed of finely cut leaves with an abundance of powder for a rich and creamy taste
- Easy Mountains Make easy mountains of mate for a balanced flavor and longer-lasting mate
- Long-Lasting Energy: Features a stronger caffeine kick and long-lasting focus
- Footballers' Choice: Chosen as a sponsor by Argentina's football team
Tasting Notes
Expect a medium-to-full-bodied flavor profile that's smooth and rich. Baldo is often compared to Canarias' flavor profile with notes of earth and malt. But it also has its own distinct taste with hints of dark chocolate, florals, and sunflower seeds. For the best flavor, we recommend brewing with a water temperature of around 160-170ºF (71-77ºC).
Who It’s For
Baldo can be described as a slightly softer version of Canarias, with a similar flavor profile and energy kick. Often compared to one another, Baldo still stands as its own yerba and is a good way to get into Uruguayan-style yerbas.

FAQs
FAQs
How Do You Prepare Yerba Mate?
Yerba mate is traditionally prepared in a gourd with a bombilla, but can also be prepared just like tea or coffee. Whether that be a french press, teapot, strainer, coffee maker, etc. Anything that allows you to steep the leaves and strain it, is a potential way to prepare it!
What Does Yerba Mate Taste Like?
Similar to tea and coffee, yerba mate in general can taste earthy, bitter, and smoky. However, the flavor profile can vary greatly from brand to brand.
How Long Does A Bag Of Yerba Last?
The average-sized gourd will use about 30-50g of yerba when filled halfway to two-thirds. So for a 500g/1.1lb bag, that'll give you 10-17 sessions or 1.5-2 weeks.
Best Way To Store Yerba Mate
All yerbas are best stored in an air-tight container, in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
If the yerba is not aged and green (like La Palma), it is best stored in the fridge or freezer to retain its freshness and color. However, aged yerbas can also be safely stored in its original packaging.
Does Yerba Mate Expire?
All yerbas are given a 2-year expiration from the date it was produced, and will be labeled on each bag.
Why Can't I Make A Mountain Of Mate?
A picture-perfect mountain of mate can only be made with powdery, finer-cut yerbas, such as those from Uruguay and Brazil. If the leaves are too large (Argentine yerbas), it cannot "stick" together. However, with coarser cuts, a perfect mountain is not necessary anyway and can be ignored.
